Last Saturday, our chapter organised a fantastic day out to Benmore Outdoor Centre in Dunoon. We had a tremendous turnout with over 2/3 of our chapter members coming along!

Upon arrival, we split up into two teams. One took on an exciting canoeing course, while the other tackled a nerve-wracking climbing challenge.

Afterwards, everyone gathered around for a nice barbecue lunch. Although the drizzle had moved along by this time, the midges decided to get involved with our trip. As annoying as they were, the meal was still a great success – well done to the chefs!

After food, both teams switched and took on the other challenge. This isn’t the place to discuss which team won (you know who you are…), but let’s just say that competition was high with a real balance of competitive edge and team spirit – in many ways just like good business!

We would also like to give a special thanks to one member in particular, Nick Smith from Square Pegs Coaching, who took a very rewarding session when the activities were over. He showed us what we had learned, and how team exercises play a key role in both team-building and personal development.

Upon getting back to Glasgow, the competition had subsided, and we had a night of chatting, socialising, and drinking at Brodie’s in the Southside. This was a perfect end to a very rewarding day, and a great chance to establish new relationships, and cement existing ones, within our chapter.

Overall, it was a fantastic day and an excellent opportunity to focus on the social side of BNI rather than purely business, which really sums up what our chapter is about.

However, the fact remains that connections and referrals are nonetheless a happy byproduct of fun social events like this!
