Every week at BNI we get the opportunity to stand up at the end of the meeting and pass business to one another that we have referred during the week. One other way that we can contribute with participation in the meeting is to do a testimonial for a piece of work that another member of the chapter has done for either ourselves or with one of our contacts. Although business is a very serious thing it doesn’t need to be done in a serious way all the time and it was extremely refreshing this week when one of our members Steph Murphy from Sixth Sense Training took a great deal of time to write a testimonial for a fellow member that was both tongue in cheek and very sharp.

“When I first joined BNI I thought your name was Donna Walker. When we went round the room passing referrals etc and some people thanked David and some people thanked Donna, I thought to myself you must have been going through some kind of transition and thought to myself, it’s better to just keep my mouth shut.

As months passed, with your obvious masculine/feminine tendencies blossoming I had nothing but respect for you on your obvious journey.

Then one day I found myself sitting next to you in amongst the commoners we have in front of us today. The meeting was quiet and beginning to wrap up when I heard the strangest noise coming from you. It was if you were communicating with a dolphin. There you were clicking away quite happily, obviously passing on a message to your secret dolphin friend.

Once again I thought it was best to say nothing and just smile pleasantly at your strange ways.

After nearly 2 years of carefully observing your peculiar characteristics, I finally gave in and passed you a referral. Santander had offered me a mortgage with a 5% interest rate but you offered me the same mortgage with them with a 1.89% interest rate.

I am not sure who you are or what language you speak, but one thing I do know about you,

You can not be beaten on mortgages. Well done!”
